Update 0.6.10 and road map for upcoming releases!
Lets first start off with the changes made to the new release 0.6.10:
- An effect can be applied which may or may not inflict a condition to the party member.
- If a condition is applied, that condition affects the stats of that member.
- The conditions can be healed at a temple.
- Added a temple to heal conditions and heal HP and mana, so resting doesn't have to be the main option to heal the party.
- Any condition that might affect a player can be made visible by right clicking on their name tag, buffs will show the remaining time, debuffs will show for how long the condition is going (this might be incorrectly shown. for now there is no drawback so I have decided to patch it out later).
- If a condition applies to the whole party (currently none are available) it will show the times for that condition on the right side of the screen. The database needs to be filled in order to have effects and conditions that will affect the whole party.
- Made changes to the save database to accommodate the saving and loading of those effects and conditions. Therefor the saves from before 10-4-2023 won't work.
These changes will be paving the road to create and implement spells, items and consumables that can help the party out. Since items and consumables are already part of Swords and Spells, the only thing that needs to be done here is add them to the database and test them to make sure that those apply the correct effects and conditions.
With that said, Swords and Spells is still very much without spells at the moment. I want to take things a bit slower the coming weeks due to real life stuff so I won't have as much time as I had before. This will be for about two months and after that I should be able to work on more complicated stuff again, which the spells part is. That doesn't mean however development of Swords and Spells is halted. Alpha 0.6.10 is released, and several others are already planed:
- 0.6.11: Cleaning up code, fixing bugs and adding more effect and conditions.
- 0.6.12: Random names for the characters.
- 0.6.13: Races and the ability to select them
- 0.6.14: Re-visiting quests. Due to the database change, this part hasn't been tested and debugged properly
- 0.6.15: Equipment slots: more slots will be added with more items that can be equiped.
- 0.6.??: Spells. Hopefully when the weather has cooled down again (which also might limit my development progress) these can be added
