WIP update for new features
So the last few weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster for due to me have a vacation and a drop in motivation. That doesn't mean I have been sitting idle and not working on this project. The next update will include new features and will have the mechanics for more interesting stuff in the future.
So the new features that will be added are: Resting, Status effects and conditions, Game time and lastly combat order.
Resting:
While playing continues for several hours is nice, taking a rest is also important. That is why characters will become exhausted after a certain amount of in-game time. To counter balance it, if you rest at an inn, you will get the "well rested" bonus, which will add a bonus to all exp. gains. This bonus will be different for each inn, when more locations are added. While it doesn't give you a beneficial buffs, it will also be possible to sleep outside, with a chance of an encounter spawning. This might still be better than getting the "exhausted" debuff.
Status effects and conditions:
A character will be able to receive a status effect or be afflicted by conditions that are more permanent than before. While positive status effects were already implemented, negative ones and more permanent ones weren't. With the new update the mechanics for these is added, as well as the database items.
Game time:
In order to keep track of the time in game, a clock has been added. This means that each action has a set of time intervals which will increase the game time. This was needed for tracking the rested bonuses as well as when to apply the exhausted debuffs. This also opens the way for other things as well like weapon recovery and other this.
Combat order:
With the new in game time, it is possible to create a combat order so the player can see who is going to make a move, and queue attacks or items usage. While this is still in concept stage, the aim is to include a basic form of this in the next update.
Bug fixes:
With the new features there will also be several bug fixes. Some apply to older bugs, while others are from builds not released.
With all of this a new update will be later than my goal of one each month. I rather have something that works and works good enough to be released, than to release something that is not usable at all. Also with they way things are going (especially the heat over here) development may slow down a bit for the next few weeks. I will try to put an update out every month, and if not, I will try to release a WIP (Work In Progress) update instead.
