WIP Update: Bug fixes and more


After several months of work, it is now getting close to a new alpha release. But to get there a repeat of alpha 6 would be preferably avoided. During a test (2 months after that release) it was found that it wouldn't run, like at all, not even local on the dev PC. It was able to start from the debugger, but it was unable to start from the .exe. So to avoid that from happening in the future I will be testing it more and make sure everything is in working order. This does mean however it will take more time before a release is released.

With that though, bugs are being found and fixed at a regular pace. As for the changes that are coming up, well there is going to be a lot.

The biggest change is the party system. This allows for four characters to be part of the party who will fight mobs together. For now there is no target selection, so the characters will target the first mob on the list first, and then continue to the next one and so on. Target selection will be implemented in the future, as it was sorta unplanned to do a party system for this release.

There is also some optimization in the menu. The buttons where not as responsive as I wanted them to be so I rewrote the whole code for it, and now it is actually responding better.

To make alpha 6 work (well sorta) I had to disable the logging part of the code. That is now re-enabled with the alpha 7 so debugging can be done quicker.

The alpha 7 release will also include the SQL database. This addition makes things a lot quicker and more streamlined, however I had to re-write a lot of code for it, and testing it to make sure it is working correctly.

Lastly I will be putting up a new video of the game somewhere this month, but for now I will post a picture of the party currently sitting around and  waiting to make a move.
